Privacy
SewerOwner has no accounts, no login, and no database. The site deploys as static files, and your project record never leaves the device you built it on.
One thing does leave: a help request, if you choose to send one. What that contains, where it goes, and who reads it are set out below.
What this page cannot establish
- this describes how this site behaves; it is not legal advice
What is stored, and where
- Your project record is stored in your own browser, in local storage on the device you are using.
- It is not synced, not backed up, and not visible to SewerOwner.
- Clearing your browser data deletes it. So does the delete control in the brief tool.
- Nothing you type is transmitted anywhere as you type it.
What analytics may record
SewerOwner uses Google Analytics 4. It is limited to a fixed list of event names and a fixed list of enumerated values; it cannot carry anything else, because the allowlist is enforced in code and the build fails if an event is added that is not on it.
- which page was viewed, as a page address, with any query string removed first
- that an orientation was started, or a guide opened
- that a brief was started, viewed, or printed
- that a proposal comparison was started
- that the transfer review was opened, or an optional field removed from it
- that the help-request form was opened, started, sent, or failed
- which of the eight listed situations a help request was about
- that a submission failed, and whether the cause was the network or the server
What analytics may never record
- anything you typed, in any field
- your name, email, phone, address, or postcode
- prices, measurements, or contractor names
- inspection results, footage details, or document contents
- the contents of your project brief, in whole or in part
- anything you typed into the help-request form, including the description of your problem
- any identifier that could link a record back to you
If you ask for help
The help page is the only place anything leaves your device, and it does so only when you fill in the request form and press send. Nothing on that page is transmitted as you type.
What you send is your name, email address, an optional phone number, a postal or ZIP code, which of eight situations fits best, and what you write in the description box. That is the whole of it. Your project brief is not attached — it stays on your device, and printing it is still how you take a copy anywhere.
What happens to a help request
- It is received and stored by Netlify, the service that hosts this site, and emailed to SewerOwner.
- It is read by a person at SewerOwner. It is not passed to a contractor, because SewerOwner has no contractor network.
- It is not sold, listed, published, or used to build a marketing list.
- Nothing you wrote in it is sent to analytics. Only the fact that a request succeeded or failed, and which of the eight situations it was about.
- You can ask for it to be deleted at any time by replying to the email you get back, and it will be.
What would change the answer
- none
