Direct these to the municipality or the sewer operating authority for the property address — not to a neighbouring one, and not to a general county office unless it turns out to be the right body.

  • Does this jurisdiction impose any sewer lateral requirement at the point of sale or transfer?
  • If so, what exactly does it require — an inspection, a certification, a repair, or a recorded document?
  • What is the timing relative to closing?
  • What evidence satisfies it, and who may perform it?
  • Is there a fee, and who pays it?
  • Is the requirement published in writing, and where?
  • When was the current version adopted?

What would change the answer

  • the timing the requirement imposes relative to closing
  • what evidence the authority accepts as satisfying it
